It’s just like heart disease; would you try and tackle it yourself? Would you try to treat yourself? No.
I really think that professional help is necessary ... .
If you see yourself increasing the amount of drug taking, the uncontrollable aspects ... when ... a voluntary decision becomes an involuntary action, then you know you’re in pretty deep trouble with the drugs ... .
[It] devolves from someone taking drugs to feel good ... to someone taking drugs just not to feel horrible, and so the pleasure is gone and then it’s just a maintenance type of thing. That’s also a sign of trouble.
