Arguing

Relationships

Tip:  Use an argument as a quest to understand, not a quest to win

I believe that the most important factor for couples is really to want to understand their spouse or their partner ... .

The way to do that is really just to know that you’ll have your turn to express yourself and to be understood and to be listened to.

But, at the moment, it might be very helpful to just put yourself on hold and not speak at the other person and just take in what they’re trying to tell you about their perspective ... and ... to make it a goal in the relationship not to let things build to the point of no return.
