Number one, don’t take long, hot showers ... .
Paradoxically, they dry the skin out more because as soon as you step out of the shower, that hot water is evaporating off the skin and taking with it the intrinsic moisture of the skin itself.
Second, make sure that you moisturize well. There are a whole variety of moisturizers out there. Actually, the selection is dizzying, so I suggest you just find a product that you like and that isn’t going to put you into bankruptcy, and use it regularly, right after the shower when the skin is still moist because it’s at that point that you can lock the moisture in.
The third thing you should do, and this is very important all year ‘round; wash with a non soap cleanser ... .
What soaps actually do, because they are detergents, is they strip off the oils on the surface of the skin ... and so in fact, if you wash ... frequently with soap, all you’re doing is ripping away the body’s natural protection.
