Grandparents

Relationships

Tip:  When grandparents offer to help with the grandchildren, it’s best to withhold the advice

Most parents need help, but ... they don’t want your advice.

So you can say, ‘You know, I notice that when this happens, it’s a little difficult for everybody. Is there any way I can be helpful?’.... .

No parent wants to feel criticized, and no parent wants to feel judged. And there are very few parents who don’t have an idea of how their grand children should be raised, so you have to be really careful ... .

You are there to be helpful. You’re not there to be the boss. You’re not there to make somebody feel badly about how they’re doing their job. You’re there to be an assistant.
