Tip:  Try a new role in the hopes that you can still have an influence on your teen

If your teen will abide by your rules and limits, that’s great, but many simply refuse. In that case, it’s best usually best to try a new role in the hopes that you can still have an influence: focus on becoming a trusted advisor, guide and mentor.

At 13, it’s time really time to start inviting kids into the adult world… If you’re going to work out at the gym to take your child with you; to chat with them about your day is a really good way to get kids to open up, and they’re very curious about what’s going on in the adult world.

It helps them to understand about work, and if you’re running errands to take them with you and involve them in it… to have them start making some of the decisions… so that they’re actually learning how handle all of these little things of everyday life… this is what teaches them how to to run household of their own.

Give them a chance to be in charge is very affirming for kids.
