Nonetheless, if you’re going down that road, college advisor Susan Taub has some valuable advice about the application process, starting with the letter.

You need to be very, very specific, and show that you’ve really explored that college.

If you’ve gone on a college visit, bring up things about the visit; who you’ve met with, what you saw, what was appealing to you.

The colleges don’t want to just think you’re sending off a bunch of applications and haven’t really thought about the ‘fit’ between yourself and that school.
