Featured Topic: Finding a Job

I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of “Linked In” before, but suffice to say it’s kind of like “Facebook for business”.  (Although you can’t “poke” anyone on Linked In. At least, not that I’m aware of.)

What you CAN do is network, and Jason Alba, who wrote a book on the subject, says that a Linked In profile can be better than a resume…

If I come to you and give you my resume, then right there your assumption’s probably going to be that I’m a job seeker and that I’m ‘in transition’, and ... there’s something wrong.

But if I give you my Linked In profile in an e-mail or on my business card, there’s none of that negative stigma - this is just a business profile.

And so, in a Linked In profile, I can communicate the same things I can communicate in a resume, but I don’t have that negative stigma attached, which is really powerful.
